The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southwestern Schuylkill County as thunderstorms continue to produce heavy rainfall across the area Tuesday evening.
The warning is in effect until 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
According to the National Weather Service, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated at 7:14 p.m. that thunderstorms were producing heavy rain across the warned area.
Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen, and up to an additional 2 inches of rainfall is possible.
Forecasters said flash flooding is either already occurring or is expected to begin shortly.
Heavy rainfall could result in the rapid flooding of small creeks and streams, roads, streets, underpasses, urban areas and other low-lying or poor-drainage locations.
Motorists should use extra caution and should never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Water covering a road may be deeper or moving faster than it appears.
Residents in flood-prone areas should remain alert as thunderstorms continue to move through Schuylkill County Tuesday evening.
