The Schuylkill Haven Area High School Hurricane Marching Band is bringing the music of Earth, Wind & Fire to the field for the 2026 season, celebrating the group’s familiar melodies, powerful grooves and energetic sound.
The band includes 34 musicians and 14 band front/color guard members, with students participating in grades six through 12. Drum Major Anna Messina leads the Hurricanes on the field.
Band Director Caitlyn Biggs is in her 18th year in the position. Joining her are Assistant Band Director Kiara Semanco and Color Guard Instructor Lauren Dissinger, with additional support from volunteers Josh Semanco and Carter Dissinger.
This year’s show features three Earth, Wind & Fire favorites: “September,” the soulful ballad “After the Love Has Gone,” and the high-energy “Boogie Wonderland.” Soloists Levi Schaeffer and Maya Jenkins will be featured during “After the Love Has Gone.”
Through those selections, the Hurricanes aim to bring the timeless sound, energy and spirit of Earth, Wind & Fire to audiences throughout the season.
The band’s goal this year is to build on the musical foundation established during band camp, continuing to improve both musically and on the field.
Student leadership plays an important role in the program. This year’s band officers and student leaders include:
- President: Maya Jenkins
- Vice President: Chelsey Zagar
- Secretary: Adrianna Grubel
- Treasurer: Cooper Marx
- Librarians: Maya Jenkins and Levi Schaeffer
- Historians: Cooper Marx and Ethan Miller
- Equipment Managers: Dylan Benulis, Colton Ellex, Owen Frank, Cooper Marx, Ethan Miller and Levi Schaeffer
- Field Captain: Chelsey Zagar
- Guard Captain: Sadie Tokarick
The Hurricane Marching Band will perform at all Schuylkill Haven football games, participate in local Halloween parades and take part in the Schuylkill Haven Memorial Parade.
