As of approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2026, 1,585 PPL customers were reported without power across Schuylkill County.
The majority of the outages were concentrated in Pine Grove Township, where 1,554 customers were without electricity. Another 31 outages were reported in Hegins Township.
The outages developed as storms pushed through Schuylkill County during the previous half hour.
In Pine Grove Township, reports indicated trees and wires were down in several locations, including Brookside Road, Pine Hill Road, Mifflin Street and Suedberg Road.
Motorists should be prepared for possible blocked roads and should avoid areas where trees, utility poles or wires have fallen.
Residents are reminded to never approach or attempt to move a downed power line. Any downed wire should be considered energized.
It was not immediately clear how long power restoration would take.
