The Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until midnight Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The watch includes Schuylkill County along with much of eastern and central Pennsylvania, including Berks, Carbon, Columbia, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northumberland and surrounding counties. The alert covers all of eastern Pennsylvania.
Storms are expected to push through our region between 8pm and 10pm.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in and near the watch area. Residents should remain alert for changing weather conditions and be prepared to seek shelter if warnings are issued.
Severe thunderstorms can produce damaging wind gusts, large hail, frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.
Residents should keep an eye on the forecast and have a way to receive weather warnings throughout the evening.
The watch is scheduled to remain in effect until 12:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
