Organizers said 238 vehicles participated in the first-year event, far exceeding anything they had imagined while planning the show.
Classics, muscle cars, hot rods, customs, trucks, motorcycles, rare finds and one-of-a-kind vehicles filled the field, giving visitors plenty to see throughout the day.
“When we began planning Ashland’s 1st Annual Coal Region Car Show, we never imagined 238 vehicles would roll into Memorial Field,” Mayor Lorenda Kutz said following the event. “The turnout was beyond anything we expected, and we are truly grateful.”
Organizers thanked the sponsors who supported the event, along with the volunteers, vendors, community organizations and others who worked behind the scenes to bring the show together.
They also recognized the Ashland Black Diamonds for sharing Memorial Field and helping feed the large crowd that attended.
“We truly appreciate your partnership and everything you did to help make the day a success,” organizers said.
Much of that success, however, belonged to the vehicle owners who took a chance on a brand-new show and brought an impressive variety of vehicles to Ashland.
The turnout provided a memorable beginning for the Coal Region Car Show while also giving organizers valuable experience as they look toward its future.
“This was our first year, and we learned a lot along the way,” organizers said. “With a turnout far beyond anything we ever imagined, we know there are things we can improve, and we’re excited to build on what we learned.”
Organizers said they were especially grateful to everyone who visited Ashland, supported the community and helped make the first show a success.
“238 vehicles. One incredible first year,” Kutz said. “Thank you for making history with us.”
Following the overwhelming response to the inaugural event, organizers are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back next year.
