Pine Grove native Alicia Kimmel will be inducted into the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony .
Kimmel played basketball for the Panthers from 2011 to 2015. In 103 games, she scored 1,385 points and recorded 643 rebounds, 162 assists and 118 steals. She finished fourth in program history in both scoring and career free-throw percentage.
During the 2012-13 season, Kimmel set a program record by making 86.5% of her free throws. A three-time All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference selection, she was named AMCC Player of the Year in 2014-15. That season, she helped lead Pitt-Bradford to 17 wins, the second-most in program history, and was named the university’s Female Athlete of the Year.
Kimmel graduated in 2015 with a degree in sport medicine and later earned a nursing degree. She also served as a graduate assistant basketball coach at Bethany College. Former Pitt-Bradford women’s basketball head coach Patrick Daniel will introduce her at the induction ceremony.
Joining Kimmel in this year’s Hall of Fame class are Bret Butler, the founding head coach of Pitt-Bradford’s baseball program, and Maggie Johnson Tortatice, a former Panthers volleyball standout.
The inductions will take place at 5:30 p.m. during the Alumni Awards Dinner in the Mukaiyama University Room at Frame-Westerberg Commons. The dinner is part of the university’s Alumni and Family Weekend.
