A 34-year-old woman faces drug charges after investigators reported seizing suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl with a combined estimated street value of $35,200 during a search in Pottsville.
According to authorities, Ashley Marie Licona was charged following an investigation that began during the summer into the alleged distribution of illegal narcotics.
Multiple Agencies Conduct Pottsville Drug Investigation
The investigation involved the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office, Schuylkill County Drug Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police Troop L–Reading Vice/Narcotics Unit and Pottsville City Bureau of Police.
Investigators obtained a court-authorized warrant on , to search a property at 409 East Norwegian Street and Licona’s person.
Members of the participating agencies executed the warrant that day. Authorities said Licona was detained as she exited the residence and that the searches proceeded without incident.
Investigators Report $35,200 Drug Seizure
Authorities reported recovering the following suspected controlled substances:
- Suspected methamphetamine: Approximately 454 grams with an estimated street value of $22,700.
- Suspected fentanyl: Approximately 25 grams with an estimated street value of $12,500.
The estimated street value of the suspected drugs totaled $35,200.
Charges and Bail
Licona was charged with:
- Two counts of possession with intent to deliver
- Two counts of possession of a controlled substance
- One count of possession of drug paraphernalia
The possession and delivery charges involve the suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Licona was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker in Shenandoah, who set bail at $100,000. Authorities said she was unable to post bail and was committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
The charges are allegations. Licona is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
