Two men have been charged following an August 14 fight in Ashland in which one reported being struck in the back of the head with scissors.
Ervin Matthew Anderson, 34, and Zakee Kasheem-Michael Crawley, 25, each face charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct stemming from the incident near 312 Centre Street.
What Police Say Happened
Pennsylvania State Police were called to the area around 3 a.m. for a disturbance. According to the criminal complaints, an argument between the men turned physical after a friend tried to separate them and Anderson demanded that Crawley come back outside.
Anderson told investigators that Crawley struck him in the back of the head with scissors. Anderson said he then struck Crawley several times in the head before the fight ended when Crawley bit his arm, according to the filings.
Crawley told police he took scissors from his pocket and swung them toward Anderson during the fight. Both men described the altercation as mutual, according to the complaints.
Police said Anderson sustained a small cut to the back of his head and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Investigators reported seeing no injuries on Crawley, who said Anderson had struck him multiple times.
Charges and Preliminary Hearings
The charges were filed September 17. Preliminary hearings before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli are scheduled for October 21.
