Ashland Police Arrest Man for Stealing Packages from Porch

An Ashland man was caught stealing packages from a porch in the borough.

According to Ashland Police, on Thursday around 2:30pm, they were advised of a theft that had occurred of packages that were on a front porch.

The caller told police they had the suspect stealing the packages on video.

Officer Daniel Weikel investigated and found the video showed a black or Hispanic male wearing an orange or red vest taking items from the caller's front porch.

At the time of the call, police were unable to locate the suspect.

Around 6:00pm, Thursday evening, police received another call from the original caller who stated that the suspect was in the area again and ran away.

Officer Weikel responded again and Rodney Hogue, 30, of Ashland was taken into custody and found to be in possession of some of the stolen items.

Hogue admitted to Police that he had some of the stolen items at his residence.

Police were able to recover all  of the stolen items.

Hogue was also found to be on state parole.

Officer Weikel filed misdemeanor theft charges with Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale's office.
