Schuylkill Volunteer Awarded Outstanding Volunteer of the Year from the American Red Cross

Shining a spotlight on the amazing men and women who volunteer throughout the Tri-County area, last week,  the American Red Cross held its Celebration of Volunteers on Wednesday March 6th at the Crowne Plaza Reading in Wyomissing, PA.

Patty Daley of Schuylkill County received the Elizabeth Brown Award, given to the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.

“Ms. Daley is well known and respected in her community. She has developed strong relationships with every Fire Chief within the county and as a member of the Schuylkill Disaster Action team”, said Matthew Breidenstein of the American Red Cross.

Daley helped form a campaign with the Pottsville Fire Chief and all seven of the local fire companies to install 1,000 alarms in the 2018 fiscal year, a goal that has since been surpassed.

Recently Schuylkill County has had a number of flooding incidents in the past couple of years that have involved opening up shelters and the bulk distribution of supplies. Her disaster volunteer experience coupled with her knowledge of the county, has been critical to our effectiveness to provide mass care during the most critical of times.”, added Breidenstein.
