Disabled Veteran Draws Gun to Defend Himself near Tower City

A disabled veteran who was carrying a firearm drew his weapon to defend himself after a man pulled a gun on him near Tower City.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on Saturday, August 29th, 2020 around 1:00am, August 29th, 2020, troopers responded to the 400 Block of Main Street in Porter Township near Tower City.

Police said after an investigation, it was determined that Russell Bruder, 42, of Tremont, and also a member of the Joliet Fire Company,  was patrolling the parking lot of the firehouse with a singe barrel 20 gauge shotgun.

Bruder pointed the gun barrel directly at a a 38 year old disabled veterans head and confronted him why he was parked in the area.

The disabled veteran drew his concealed pistol to defend himself, police said.

Criminal charges were filed against Bruder and taken into custody and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 bail.
