One person died and another person was seriously injured in a crash this week in Porter Township.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred on Route 209 approximately a 1/4 mile west of Tower Street around 11:45am on Thursday, April 8th, 2021.
Police say a flatbed tow truck, driven by Dale Marks, 60, of Tremont, was traveling north on Route 209 and a Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup, driven by Horace Brandenberger, 79, of Lykens, was traveling south.
For unknown reasons, Brandenberger crossed the double yellow line into the path of Marks and the two vehicles struck head-on.
Marks was reported to be seriously injured and had suffered a broken arm.
Brandenberger was pronounced dead at the scene by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner John Mika at 12:41pm.
Route 209 was closed for several hours while the scene was cleared and investigated.
