Anthony ("Tony") Urban has notified the Mahanoy Area School District that the Urban Memorial Scholarship Fund is awarding over $5,000 in scholarship grants to this year's recipients: John Babinsky, Ann Hanley, Noah Karnish, Meghan MacCleary and Maddison Quick, 2021 graduates of Mahanoy Area.
Each year in May, the Trustees of the Urban Scholarship select eligible scholarship recipients from Mahanoy Area who plan to pursue further studies based upon merit and need. Since first established and endowed in 1993, the Urban Scholarship Fund has awarded over $150,000 to graduates of Mahanoy Area.
The Urban Scholarship Fund is administered by the Urban Law Offices, of Mahanoy City and Pottsville.
Babinsky and Quick plan to study at Kings College, Hanley at Muhlenburg College, Karnish at DeSales University, and MacCleary at Penn State University Park.
