On Sunday, Mahanoy City held their annual Memorial Day Service, the day prior to the holiday.
The service was held at the Veteran's Memorial at the intersection of Center and Catawissa Street's in the borough and was hosted by the United Veterans Org Parade Committee.
Lou Huber acted as Master of Ceremonies of the service which included music from the Upper Schuylkill Marching Band, reading of the poem "Our Nation" and the "Gettysburg Address" by Mahanoy Area seniors.
Stephen Barrett of the Mahanoy City Legion Riders and 21 year military veteran also spoke.
Over 30 people withstood the rain and attended the service.
