Former Maroons Sports Bar Building Razed

The former home of the Maroon's Sports Bar and Grille in Pottsville was tore down Saturday.

In the early 2000's, the building at 556 North Centre Street in Pottsville was home of the Maroon's Sports Bar and Grille.  The bar quickly became a popular spot due to it being named after Pottsville's NFL team in the 1920's.

The restaurant had it's troubles and closed in 2006 but reopened again in 2007 under new ownership and later closed it's final time in 2015.

In 2020, the building was purchased again by Roy and Janice Smith, of Lebanon County, but according to reports, the building had structural issues and had to be demolished.

On Saturday morning, at daybreak, crews began tearing down the building and by the end of the day, the property was leveled.

There are no reports of what the owners plan on doing with the property.
