Minersville Police: Second Victim Comes Forward Alleging Rape

A second victim has come forward accusing a man that Minersville Police arrested recently for sexual assault.

According to Minersville Police, Michael Butler, 20, was apprehended on Friday, October 1st, 2021 on a unrelated case and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison.  Police had been investigating Butler over the past 2 months for his interactions with underaged girls within the borough.

On Tuesday, October 5th, 2021, Minersville Police charged Butler with 4 counts of felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, 4 counts of felony statutory sexual assault, 4 counts of felony aggravated indecent assault, 4 counts of felony sexual abuse of children involving child pornography, and 4 counts of indecent exposure after evidence was found on two cell phones that he had in his possession.

On Wednesday, after the charges went public, a second underaged girl came forward to talk to police.

The second victim told police that Butler arrived at her home last month punching her in the face then forcing her to have sex with him.

As a result of the accusations, Minersville Police have filed additional charges against Butler including rape, burglary, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, aggravated indecent assault, criminal trespass, and corruption of minors.

Butler remains in Schuylkill County Prison.
