Two Injured After Vehicle Hits Rock on Interstate 81 near McAdoo

A crash on Thursday on Interstate 81 near McAdoo is being blamed on a rock slide that occurred.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, around 6:15am, on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022, emergency personnel were called to Interstate 81 northbound near mile marker 137.6 in Kline Township for a motor vehicle accident with rollover.

Police say due to the amount of rain received in the area, a rock slide had occurred and a large boulder landed in the right travel lane.

At the time of the crash, Wilfrido Reynoso Suero, 43, of Mahanoy City was driving northbound in his Subaru Outback when he was unable to avoid the large boulder.

His vehicle struck the boulder causing it roll onto it's roof.

The roadway was reduced to one lane while the crash and rock slide were cleared by PennDOT.

Reynoso Suero and his passenger, Widinson Rosario-Reynoso, 18, were both injured and transported to an area hospital via Ryan Township Ambulance.

Assisting at the at the scene were the McAdoo Fire Company, Ryan Township EMS, and Medic 11 out of Luzerne County.
