Frackville Man Seriously Injured in Crash that Closed Route 61 near St. Clair Last Weekend

A Frackville man was flown with serious injuries after a crash along Route 61 near St. Clair early Saturday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 2:15am, on Route 61 near the intersection with Darkwater Road in New Castle Township.

Troopers say Philip Klemow, 35, of Frackville was driving southbound in a Nissan Frontier when he failed to negotiate the left hand curve in the roadway, traveled off the right shoulder and crashed into a utility pole.

Klemow was reported to be driving "too fast" at the time of the crash.

Klemow sustained serious injuries and was transported into St. Clair where he was flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest.

The crash knocked out the utility pole and its connected wires, which caused Route 61 to be closed for almost 5 hours.

Klemow will be cited for the crash.
