DUI Charges Pending After Hit and Run Crash in Ashland

DUI charges are pending after a hit and run crash in Ashland on Friday evening.

According to Ashland Police Officer Tyler Dissinger, at 8:24pm, Friday, he was stopped at the red light heading downtown at Centre and 9th Streets in the borough when he observed a silver Chevrolet Malibu traveling uptown at a high rate of speed.

At the same time, he observed a dark color Toyota sedan, make a left from 9th Street onto Centre, while having a green light.

The Malibu ran the red light colliding with the Toyota, spinning the Toyota 180 degrees.  The Malibu continued uptown and at this time, Dissinger activated his emergency lights, turned around and followed the vehicle.

Dissinger pursued the vehicle until the driver came to a stop on Route 61 near Centralia.   The female driver was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for testing for suspicion of driving under the influence.  Dissinger says charges are pending test results.

The driver of the Toyota was treated at the scene by EMS.  Butler Township assisted at the scene of the crash in Ashland while Ashland Police pursued the vehicle.

Assisting at the scene were the American Hose Company and Washington Fire Company along with Trail Towing.
