Early Morning Fire in Shenandoah Ruled Arson

A fire early Friday morning has been ruled arson by investigators.

Just after 4:30am, emergency personnel were called to a possible house fire at 327 West Arlington Street in Shenandoah.

Firefighters arrived to find fire in a second-floor room of the home.

The Shenandoah Fire Department along with Mahanoy City and Frackville arrived and had the fire under control in less than 20 minutes.

Both homes the homes at 327 and the adjoining 325 West Arlington were vacant.  A State Police Fire Marshal was called to investigate.

Crews remained on scene for approximately 2 hours.

According to Fire Chief Rick Examitas, an investigation was done Friday morning by himself, and Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Joseph Hall and they have concluded that the fire was a case of arson.

Chief Examitas asks any residents that see any suspicious activity or people going into abandoned buildings to notify Schuylkill County Communications by calling 911 or the non-emergency line (570) 462-1991.
