Shenandoah Fire Ruled Arson

A fire in Shenandoah early Thursday morning has been ruled arson.

On Thursday morning, at 1:42am, firefighters responded to a working house fire at 4 South Grant Street.  When firefighters arrived, the 2nd floor of the home was engulfed in flames.

It took firefighters a little more than an hour to bring blaze under control.  At the scene, Shenandoah Police had reported that the home had been vacant.

On Thursday afternoon, Shenandoah Fire Chief Rick Examitas reported that a Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal was called to the scene and his investigation had come to the conclusion that the fire was an act of arson.

Chief Examitas urges residents to be on alert for any suspicious activity and to contact local police, State Police, Fire Marshal, or Schuylkill County Communications if they see any squatters in vacant homes.
