Pottsville Man Locked Up in Schuylkill County Prison on Indecent Assault Charges


A Pottsville man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on Indecent Assault charges.

According to Pottsville Police, on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, members of the Pottsville Bureau of Police were dispatched to a business located on South 2nd street for a report of a Sex Offense.

Contact was made with a female victim, who reported while she was walking up the stairs to her workplace, when she was touched inappropriately.

The victim reported she had just entered the building to go to work. She began walking up the stairs when she saw a white male later identified as, Jason Stephany, 36, of Pottsville at the top of the steps. She stated that as the male walked past her on the stairway, he forcefully poked his finger into her buttocks which slightly penetrating her.

The female victim viewed the surveillance video footage in the officer's presence and pointed out the male who assaulted her. The male was known to police from prior encounters to be Jason Stephany.

After the assault, Stephany is then shown entering the lobby from the stairway and lingers in lobby before exiting the building.

A criminal complaint was completed for Stephany charging him with Felony Aggravated Indecent Assault, misdemeanor Indecent Assault.

Stephany was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Serina and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of bail.
