Two Homes Damaged by Fire Thursday Morning in Pottsville


Two homes were damaged by fire on Thursday morning in Pottsville.

Around 7:50am, Thursday, emergency personnel were called to 429 East Arch Street for a working structure fire.

Lt. Colin Atkinson from the Phoenix Fire Company called in the fire via radio after seeing smoke coming from the home.

By the time firefighters arrived, heavy fire was coming from the second-floor windows.

The fire was knocked in approximately 20 minutes but crews remained on scene for over 2 hours working on overhaul.

The fire heavily damaged the upstairs front bedroom of the address where it is believed the fire originated.

A home next door also sustained smoke and water damage.

The American Red Cross was called to assist.

The cause is still under investigaiton.
