Two State Police Troopers Shot in Juniata County


Two Pennsylvania State Police Troopers were shot Saturday in Juniata County. 

According to a release from the Pennsylvania State Police, one trooper succumbed to his injuries and the second was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

On Saturday, around 12:45pm, a man engaged troopers in Mifflintown Borough and shot one trooper, who was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital. 

After a search, the shooter was located in the area of Swamp Road and Baumgardner Drive in Walker Township, Juniata County shortly before 3:00 p.m where Troopers exchanged gunfire with the man. 

In this exchange, the shooter and a trooper were both shot and killed.

State Police say the names of the male subject and the involved troopers will be released at a later time.
