Early Morning Fire in Shenandoah Under Investigation; One Displaced

SHENANDOAH - An early morning fire is under investigation in Shenandoah.

Around 3:30am, Monday, a Shenandoah Fire Chief was requested to the area of 200 South Jardin Street for a smoke investigation.  Before any chief arrived on scene, a second call was received for a house fire in 200 block of South Ferguson Street.

Firefighters arrived on scene to fire heavy smoke coming from 228 South Ferguson.

After making entry, firefighters found a fire in an upstairs back bedroom.  The fire was quickly extinguished, and the home was ventilated.

No injuries were reported, and the American Red Cross was called to assist one victim.

Shenandoah Fire Chief Rick Examitas says the cause of the fire is still under investigation and a State Police Fire Marshal was called to help investigate.

Firefighters from Shenandoah, Frackville, and Mahanoy City responded to the scene.
