State Police Investigate Attempted Burglary in Albany Township, Berks County



Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an attempted burglary near the Berks/Schuylkill County line.
Albany Township, Berks County - On July 31, 2023, around 3:30pm, the Pennsylvania State Police - Hamburg Barracks responded to a residence on 48 Lovers Lane after receiving a distress call reporting an attempted burglary. Thanks to the quick actions of the victim and her Ring Security System, the suspect was deterred from carrying out the burglary.

According to the victim's account, she noticed a suspicious activity on her Ring Security System at 2:35 PM, as a white non-Hispanic male was seen attempting to break into a detached, locked shed on the property. The suspect was determined to gain unauthorized access by prying the shed open, leaving fresh pry marks as evidence.

The homeowner began to communicate with the suspect through the Ring Security System, raising an alarm that likely startled the intruder. In response, the unidentified male fled the scene on foot, heading northbound along Lovers Lane.

The Pennsylvania State Police urges anyone with information that could aid in the investigation to come forward.
