State Police Investigate Hacking of Emails at Physical Therapist's Office near Frackville

The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville have launched an investigation into a recent incident involving theft and forgery at a West Mahanoy Township physical therapist's office.

The incident centers around a breach of security in which email accounts were compromised, leading to unauthorized activities.

Last week, officials at Sosar Physical Therapy, located on South Garfield Avenue in West Mahanoy Township, fell victim to an alleged cyberattack. The perpetrators managed to infiltrate the office's email accounts.  According to state troopers, the culprits took advantage of the compromised email accounts to advertise fictitious job opportunities on the job search platform, Indeed.

In addition to posting fraudulent job listings, the unknown suspects also attempted to carry out online interviews through the compromised email accounts. The motive behind these actions remains unclear.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist in the investigation. Trooper Karaman, stationed at the Frackville Barracks, has been designated as the point of contact for individuals who possess valuable insights regarding the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to Trooper Karaman by calling (570) 874-5300.
