A Schuylkill County woman is facing charges after she stole a vehicle after being involved in a crash on Route 61.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, a three-vehicle crash occurred on Sunday, October 29th, 2023, just before 2:00am in West Brunswick Township on Centre Turnpike near the intersection with Pine View Lane.
Troopers say Alani Schwoyer, 19, of Orwigsburg was involved in the crash, and before Troopers arrived on scene, she stole a bystanders Jeep, who stopped at the crash to assist.
Schwoyer was found at a nearby home, taken into custody and charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and DUI/unsafe driving.
She was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer on the above charges and released on her own recognizance.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 12th, 2023 before Magisterial District Judge Andrew J. Serina.
