Habitual Offender Found with Methamphetamine After Leading State Police in Pursuit in Girardville

An Ashland man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after he was found with methamphetamine following a pursuit in Girardville early Saturday.

According to court documents filed by the Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, around 2:00am, police were on patrol on West Main Street in Girardville when they were passed by a Jeep Grand Cherokee, heading the opposite direction, at a high rate of speed.

As Troopers turned around, and began to follow, the driver accelerated, turned onto a side street and sight was lost.

The Troopers found the same vehicle parked on South Williams Street, with the driver inside, but with the lights off trying to evade police.  Troopers ran the registration on the vehicle and found that it had expired, and the registered owner was deceased.

When the police exited their patrol vehicle and attempted to make contact with the driver, he drove off, and attempted to evade police by driving down several streets at a high rate of speed.

Troopers followed until the driver drove into Butler Township on Rapp Road on the east end of town.  He turned onto a dirt road but struck an embankment and became disabled.  Not giving up, he attempted to back up several times, but Troopers approached and took the driver into custody.

Graham Hahn, 67, of Ashland, was found to have a suspended license and was a known habitual offender.  He was also found to be on parole.

A search of Hahn led to the finding of four bags of suspected methamphetamine, a suspected oxycodone pill and drug paraphernalia, including a smoking pipe.

Hahn admitted to the substance being methamphetamine and also told Troopers he had taken some earlier in the day.

Hahn refused a drug test stating tell the Troopers that they would find meth in his blood.

Hahn was charged by State Police with fleeing or attempting to elude police, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and driving under the influence.

Hahn was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $10,000 straight cash bail.

State Parole was also notified.
