Stan Dakosty to Retire as Marian Catholic Colts Football Head Coach After 44 Years

Marian Catholic High School announced Wednesday morning that Coach Stan Dakosty has informed the administration and his players this week that he is retiring from his post as the head of the Colts Football program.

Coach Dakosty had returned to sideline in the winter of 2019 to reinvigorate his proud program after his initial retirement in 2016. This past season, under his leadership, the Colts returned to the District XI Class A championship game.

Dakosty has amassed 326 wins in his tenure — all at Marian Catholic High School — the most of any coach in District XI history. His statement victory was the 1990 State Championship against Farrell. During his latest run as the leader of the Colts — and despite it was during the pandemic — Coach Dakosty rebuilt the program which was down to just a dozen players at the end of 2019. The Marian Catholic Football team finished as the 2023 District XI Runner-ups, with healthy program numbers for the future.

Marian Catholic will begin its search for a new football coach immediately and will be accepting applications until filled.
