A pedestrian was struck and killed Saturday evening in Ashland.
The incident occurred around 6:15pm, Saturday, in the 1600 Block of West Centre Street when a 71-year-old female crossing the street was struck by a Jeep Wrangler in the area of Turkey Hill.
The woman sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Schuylkill County Coroner's Office was called along with the Pennsylvania State Police.
Centre Street was closed until approximately 8:00pm while the scene was investigated.
The identity of the woman was not available as of this posting.
