Multiple Arrests Made During Squatting Bust in Mahanoy City



MAHANOY CITY - Several people were taken into custody Tuesday after Mahanoy City Police assisted by officers from other departments converged on a home where people were squatting.

Activity could be seen around 1:30 p.m. at a home a 338 W. Centre St. where officers took people into custody, at least one on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Mahanoy City Police say on Tuesday March 5th, 2024, Mahanoy City Police along with the PA State Parole Fugitive Apprehension Search Team, and assisted by Shenandoah and Mahanoy Township Police, executed a search warrant at the home. 

As a result, Nicholas Mosher, 40, Shyanne Place, 25, and Karen Rimsky, 39, were taken into custody on warrants. 

Mosher & Place were wanted by PA State Parole while Rimsky was wanted by Schuylkill County Domestic Relations. Rimsky faces charges from the incident for possession of controlled substances.

When officers cleared the scene borough workers were called to board up and secure the building so no one else can enter.

In addition, borough code officer William Killian III posted yellow signs on the building indicating it was a dangerous structure and that no trespassing was allowed.
