Pottsville Man Cited for Running Red Light and Causing Crash


A Pottsville man has been cited for causing a crash in the City on Sunday evening.

According to Pottsville Police, the crash occurred on Sunday, March 17, 2024, around 6:00pm at the intersection of North Centre and Arch Street. 

Upon arrival police began an investigation into the two-vehicle collision. 

The investigation revealed that Joseph Prasnikar, 55, of Pottsville, driving a Jeep, was traveling Southbound on North Centre Street and failed to stop at the steady red traffic light at the intersection of North Centre and Arch Street.

Prasnikar was stuck by a Ford Edge driven by a 29-year-old female from Pottsville who was traveling West on Arch Street. 

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. A streetlight was also knocked down in the crash.

The Pottsville Fire Department assisted on scene with clean up and traffic.  PPL arrived and removed the light.
