Speeding Ashland Man Evades Police, Abandons Vehicle near Centralia

Pennsylvania State Police have filed charges against an Ashland man that fled police near Centralia on Thursday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Bloomsburg, on Thursday, February 29th, 2024, around 1:30pm, State Police were running speed enforcement on Route 61 between Centralia and Mount Carmel when they observed a gray Kia Forte traveling at 81 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.

State Police attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver pulled a u-turn and fled at a high rate of speed in the opposite direction.

The occupants of the vehicle parked the vehicle along a dirt path and fled on foot.

An investigation by State Police determined that the driver was Manual Santiago Alequin, 25, of Ashland.

State Police have filed charges through Magisterial District Judge Craig Long's office.
