Frackville Man Charged Following Police Pursuit on Dirt Bike

A Frackville man has been charged following a low-speed pursuit through several borough streets involving an off-road motorbike.

According to Frackville Police, on May 7, 2025, at approximately 6:17 p.m., Patrolman Bryce Dragna observed a dirt bike traveling west on East Spring Street. The rider reportedly failed to stop at a red traffic signal at the intersection of North Lehigh Avenue and Spring Street.

When officers attempted a traffic stop, the operator of the motorbike did not yield to emergency lights and sirens, continuing to travel through multiple borough streets. Due to mechanical issues, the bike was unable to reach high speeds, and police maintained a visual on the vehicle throughout the incident.

The pursuit came to an end near the intersection of North Ninth and West Spring Streets when the motorbike began leaking gasoline and became disabled. Police quickly apprehended the rider, who was identified as Philip Klemow, 38, of Frackville.

Following the incident, a criminal complaint was filed by Ptlm. Dragna. Klemow faces multiple charges including:

  • Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police (misdemeanor)
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person (misdemeanor)
  • Reckless Driving
  • Registration and Certificate of Title Required
  • Obedience to Traffic Control Devices

No injuries were reported during the pursuit.

Klemow will answer to the above charges during a preliminary hearing on June 18th, 2025 before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli.
