According to court documents filed by the Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton, Alexander Christopher Moyer, 26, has been charged with misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking, cruelty to animals, harassment, and disorderly conduct following the events of May 25, 2025.
In court documents, State Police say they responded to a report of a stolen dog on Mahanoy Street in Nuremberg, North Union Township, around 9:05 p.m. that evening. The complainant told police that Moyer, an invited guest, had been asked to leave after an argument. A short time later, the dog—a three-month-old puppy named Miracle—was discovered missing from her leash outside the home.
Trooper Kozma went to Moyer’s nearby residence and saw him inside. When asked to return the dog, Moyer reportedly yelled obscenities and made accusations against the complainant before disappearing from view. A moment later, Moyer came outside carrying the puppy and placed her on a grassy median near the roadway before retreating toward his door.
As the trooper secured the puppy in his vehicle, Moyer allegedly continued shouting profanities and threats from the sidewalk and challenging the Trooper to a fight. When instructed to approach, Moyer reportedly fled into his residence.
The puppy was safely recovered without injury.
