Pottsville Man Arrested Following Domestic Dispute on West Norwegian Street

A Pottsville man was arrested Saturday evening following a reported domestic dispute on the 1700 block of West Norwegian Street.

According to the Pottsville Bureau of Police, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:36 p.m. on May 31, 2025, after receiving a report of a domestic altercation.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a 59-year-old female victim who stated that her husband, identified as David Deiter, 58, of Pottsville, had grabbed her by the face and squeezed, causing visible redness and swelling. The victim declined medical treatment at the scene.

The victim told police that Deiter had been consuming alcohol prior to the incident. An argument reportedly escalated, during which Deiter allegedly grabbed her by the face and threatened her, saying, “I am going to hurt you.”

Deiter was taken into custody and later arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Plachko. Bail was set at $25,000. Deiter was remanded to the Schuylkill County Prison.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
