Marian Catholic High School is mourning the passing of Boys Basketball Head Coach Scott Murphy, a respected leader who left a lasting impact on the school’s athletic programs.
In a statement released Friday, the school expressed deep sadness over Murphy’s death, noting his dedication to the Colts basketball program and his influence beyond the court.
During Media Day last season, Murphy told Skook News "“We are really big on a family approach. We’re tight-knit and focus on helping our players grow both on and off the court”.
Murphy guided the Colts to a District XI title during the most recent season. He was known not only for his coaching skills but also for his mentorship and support of student-athletes in their academic and personal growth.
“Scott left a lasting mark on our basketball programs and school as a whole,” the school's announcement read. “We celebrated this past season as his Colts won the District XI Championship. We extend our prayers to Wendy and Mason; and the entire Murphy and Marek families during this time.”
