Minersville Man Arrested Following Street Incident, Meth Pipe Seized

A Minersville man is facing several charges after borough police responded to a call on September 12, 2025, regarding a suspicious individual at Sunbury Street and Teaberry Hill Road.
According to court documents filed by Patrolman Wilson of the Minersville Borough Police Department, officers were dispatched around 9:45 p.m. after a report of a male in a red shirt allegedly engaged in lewd behavior in public. Upon arrival at 9:50 p.m., police identified the man as Eric Michael Wychunas, 47, of Minersville.

Police say Wychunas was detained, and during a pat-down officers recovered a multi-colored glass pipe from his pocket, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Authorities noted that Wychunas confirmed the item was a meth pipe.

When officers attempted to place him into custody, Wychunas allegedly resisted by pushing handcuffs away, turning, and attempting to run. Patrolman Wilson reported deploying a Taser after repeated commands to comply. Wychunas was ultimately taken into custody after police confirmed an active 302 mental health warrant with Schuylkill County Crisis.

A follow-up interview with the complainant confirmed that Wychunas had been observed engaging in inappropriate behavior in the street prior to police arrival.

Wychunas was charged on September 19th, 2025 with:
  • Resisting Arrest/Other Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor 2)
  • Disorderly Conduct – Hazardous/Physical Offense (Misdemeanor 3)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)
