Minersville Man Charged Again Following New Assault Allegations

MINERSVILLE - A Minersville man previously charged in connection with a June assault case is now facing additional, more serious charges after a second incident was reported this week.
We reported recently that Dakota Zakashefski, 23, of Minersville, had been charged with simple assault, false imprisonment, and harassment stemming from a June 3, 2025, altercation involving a former partner. That case, which included allegations of repeated assaults inside his Sunbury Street apartment, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on October 21, 2025, before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko.

Now, Zakashefski has been charged in a separate case after Minersville Police were called to his Sunbury Street residence on Monday, September 29, 2025, for a domestic disturbance.

According to the criminal complaint, a neighbor reported hearing “horror movie type screams” and found the victim outside the apartment crying. When officers arrived, Zakashefski allegedly admitted, “I messed up this time.”

Police say Zakashefski pulled the victim from a bed, choked her, and struck her in the face during a violent argument. The victim told police she felt she was unable to breathe and feared she would black out. Officers observed visible injuries, including marks on the neck and a swollen, bleeding lip. She was transported by EMS to Lehigh Valley East for treatment.

As a result, Zakashefski now faces new charges of strangulation (F2), simple assault (M2), and harassment (S).

He was arraigned by Judge Plachko and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $25,000 straight cash bail.
