The Pennsylvania State Police Troop L – Frackville continues to investigate the disappearance of 43-year-old Donald George “DJ” Hamaker, who has been missing since May 28, 2024.
According to State Police, Hamaker was last seen in the early morning hours of May 28 while fishing at a local strip mining pit commonly referred to as the “A” hole in Girardville. He had gone fishing around 3:00 a.m. with two friends at the location.
Although the pit is reportedly supposed to be closed off, it is known to be a popular spot for fishing and swimming among residents in the area.
Later that same day, Hamaker’s kayak was found overturned in the pit. Investigators noted that his fishing poles were still tied to the kayak, while his bait was discovered on shore. Despite extensive searches conducted by dive teams and other search crews, no sign of Hamaker was located.
State Police also confirmed there was a delay in reporting Hamaker missing. He was not officially reported missing until 2:16 p.m. on May 28, several hours after he was last seen.
As of now, Donald George “DJ” Hamaker remains missing.
