Robert M. Lawson, 65, of Ringtown, was charged in connection with an incident that occurred on October 27, 2025, along the 100 block of Vine Street in Ringtown Borough.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, troopers were dispatched to 107 Vine Street after a tow truck operator with A-1 Towing and Recovery reported damage to a tow truck while attempting to repossess a vehicle.
Police say the operator was executing a repossession order on a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado registered to Lawson when Lawson exited the residence and confronted the operator. During the interaction, Lawson allegedly shoved the operator while the operator was utilizing the tow truck controls.
A female was also reported to be on scene and moved a silver Dodge SUV that had been parked in front of the vehicle being repossessed. After the SUV was moved, police allege Lawson entered the Silverado and drove it off the tow truck while it was still elevated, damaging the lifting forks on the tow truck.
Troopers say the operator was standing next to the driver’s side of the tow truck at the time of the incident. The Silverado reportedly also struck another passing motorist as it left the scene traveling west on Vine Street. Lawson and the female then left the area in separate vehicles.
Pennsylvania State Police later obtained and reviewed two videos provided by A-1 Towing and Recovery. According to police, one video appears to show Lawson shoving the tow truck operator. A second video reportedly shows the Silverado being placed in gear and driven off the tow truck while elevated, striking the lifting equipment.
An estimate submitted by A-1 Towing and Recovery lists $15,001.45 in damages, not including tax.
A records check revealed Lawson’s driver’s license was suspended at the time of the incident. Police also noted prior law enforcement interactions involving Lawson at the Vine Street address.
As a result of the investigation, Lawson was charged with:
- Felony 3 – Criminal Mischief (Damage to Property)
- Misdemeanor – Recklessly Endangering Another Person
- Summary – Harassment (Subject Other to Physical Contact)
