Pine Grove Pulls Away Late to Defeat Panther Valley, 52–45, in Schuylkill League Division 1 Clash

Pine Grove used a strong second half and balanced scoring to earn a 52–45 victory over Panther Valley on Monday night in a Schuylkill League Division 1 girls basketball matchup.
The Cardinals built a slim advantage at the half before steadily extending the lead over the final two quarters, outscoring Panther Valley 27–23 after halftime to secure the league win.

Pine Grove led 14–11 after the first quarter and carried a 25–22 edge into the break. The Cardinals maintained control in the third quarter and finished the night with a decisive fourth-quarter push to hold off a late Panther Valley rally.

Hollynn Sampson paced Pine Grove with a game-high 15 points, while Meadow Umbenhauer added 11 points. Callee Leffler and Lainey Fidler each finished with 10 points as Pine Grove showcased balanced scoring throughout the lineup. Kam Heming chipped in five points and Kendra Umbenhauer added two.

Panther Valley stayed within striking distance for much of the contest, battling on both ends of the floor and cutting into the deficit multiple times, but could not overcome Pine Grove’s depth and consistent scoring in the second half.

With the win, Pine Grove improves to 6–4 in Schuylkill League Division 1 play and will travel to Tamaqua on Thursday night.

Panther Valley falls to 1–9 in league action and will look to regroup when the Panthers head to Blue Mountain on Thursday.
