Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred earlier this month in Pine Grove Township.
According to PSP, the crash happened on January 6, 2026, at approximately 5:37 p.m. on Suedberg Road at its intersection with Swatara Drive.
State Police identified the driver of the first vehicle as William T. Rittenbaugh, 87, of Pine Grove. Troopers report Rittenbaugh was operating a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported by Pine Grove Community Ambulance Association to Hershey Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The second vehicle was driven by Sydney R. Hall, 19, of Pine Grove, who was operating a 2012 Subaru Impreza. Hall was transported by Pine Grove Community Ambulance Association to Lehigh Valley East Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries. Police report that Hall was wearing a lap and shoulder belt at the time of the crash.
Police indicate the primary violation listed in the crash was failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
The crash remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.
