State Police Follow Footprints Through Snow to Capture Schuylkill County Suspect in Columbia County



An Ashland man was taken into custody Saturday morning following a reported domestic incident and a foot pursuit in Conyngham Township, Columbia County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police at Bloomsburg, troopers were dispatched at approximately 9:56 a.m. on January 17, 2026, to the 112 block of North Erin Lane for a report of a domestic incident.

While responding, troopers learned that the male involved had active NCIC county bench warrants issued by the Carbon County and Columbia County Sheriff’s Offices. Upon arrival, police determined the male had fled the scene on foot.

Troopers were able to locate fresh footprints in the snow and tracked the suspect approximately three-quarters of a mile to one mile through wooded terrain. The male was ultimately located and taken into custody.

Police identified the individual as Joshua Daum, 37, of Ashland.

During a search incident to arrest, troopers reported locating drugs and drug paraphernalia in Daum’s possession.

Daum was released to the custody of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department and transported to the Columbia County Correctional Facility for lodging.

Pennsylvania State Police were assisted at the scene by Locust Township Police Department and additional members of the PSP Bloomsburg Patrol Unit.

Charges are pending.
