Schuylkill Haven Man Resisted Arrest After Alleged Domestic Assault

A Schuylkill Haven man is facing multiple charges following an early morning domestic incident Sunday that police say turned violent and led to a struggle with officers.
Corey Crofford, 50, of Schuylkill Haven, has been charged by Schuylkill Haven Police with Simple Assault (M2), Resisting Arrest (M2), and Disorderly Conduct – Hazardous/Physical Offense (M3). The alleged offenses occurred on February 22, 2026.

According to court documents, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:40 a.m. to Dock Street for a report of a domestic assault. Schuylkill County 911 advised responding officers that a knife might be involved.

Upon arrival, officers located the alleged victim, upstairs in the residence. Police reported that the victim was crying as she told officers she had been bitten on the right forearm by her husband, Crofford. Officers observed black and blue bruising, red marks, and blood on her forearm.

The victim told police she had been asleep in her bedroom when Crofford allegedly grabbed her hair and slammed her head into a pillow multiple times. She said she rolled off the bed and attempted to defend herself, at which point she was allegedly bitten on the arm and punched in the side of the head with a closed fist. She told officers she felt she was nearly knocked unconscious.

Officers then called for Crofford to come upstairs from a downstairs room. Police ordered him to walk upstairs with his hands raised and not make any sudden movements. According to the affidavit, Crofford became upset and expressed concern about being handcuffed, suggesting he could strip naked to show officers he did not have a knife. He then removed his clothing and complied with orders to turn his pockets inside out before being told to sit down.

While speaking with Crofford, officers observed blood on his right hand, chin, and in his mouth. When asked what had occurred, Crofford allegedly told police he had gone upstairs to speak with the victim and “it didn’t end well.” He declined to provide further details without an attorney present and warned officers that he was going to be combative.

Police informed Crofford he was being placed in handcuffs. Crofford then allegedly grabbed a chair and threw it at a living room window, breaking the chair. Officers warned him he would be tased as he attempted to grab another chair.

After a struggle during which officers repeatedly told him to stop resisting, they were able to take him to the floor and secure him in handcuffs. During the struggle, Crofford allegedly told officers to tase him.

Officers reported that Crofford continued to be combative at the police station. During processing, Crofford allegedly made a comment indicating that if he was going to be charged with resisting arrest, he “might as well give the whole $10.”

Crofford was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli, Frackville, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 3, 2026, before Magisterial District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek.
