A Shenandoah man is facing charges after police say he dropped a "quarter stick" from his vehicle, shattering a window at a borough residence in January.
According to court documents, Shenandoah Police charged Thomas Salvadore Jr., 51, of Shenandoah, on February 24th, 2026, with Criminal Mischief (M3) and Disorderly Conduct (Summary) in connection with the January 10, 2026 incident.
Police say that on January 10, 2026, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a woman contacted the Shenandoah Borough Police Department to report a loud explosion in front of her residence in the 400 block of West Atlantic Street. The woman told officers the explosion filled the block with smoke and caused a window at 412 West Atlantic Street to shatter.
Upon arrival, officers reviewed security footage provided by the victim. The video reportedly showed a dark-colored pickup truck traveling westbound in the 400 block of West Atlantic Street. As the vehicle approached the area of 412/414 West Atlantic Street, the operator allegedly dropped a device out of the driver’s side window. The device then exploded, shattering a window above the front door of 412 West Atlantic Street.
According to the affidavit, the footage depicted what appeared to be a male driver wearing a bright yellow hoodie. Based on familiarity with the vehicle and its operator, an officer believed the individual may have been Salvadore.
Officers then went to Salvadore’s residence on West Coal Street, where they observed a dark-colored Ford pickup truck. Police made contact with Salvadore, who allegedly admitted to being the driver of the vehicle and acknowledged that he dropped what he described as a “quarter stick” firework.
Police say Salvadore was informed that the explosion caused damage to the residence. According to the affidavit, Salvadore became apologetic and offered to pay for the damages, stating that he “should’ve never dropped this firework in town” and was “just trying to have fun.”
An estimate received on February 20, 2026, placed the cost of repairs for the damaged window at $580.
Salvadore is scheduled to answer to the charges during a preliminary hearing set for April 2, 2026.
