A Pottsville man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash that left a motorcyclist seriously injured Thursday afternoon in Schuylkill County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred around 4:21 p.m. on March 26, 2026, at the intersection of Pottsville-Minersville Highway (Route 901) and Bunting Street (Route 209) in Norwegian Township.
Troopers say a motorcyclist collided with a black Chevrolet Colorado driven by Thomas Joseph Reddington, 82, of Pottsville. Investigators determined that Reddington had entered Route 209 and began slowing down while attempting to make a U-turn when the motorcyclist, who was traveling behind him on a black Harley-Davidson, struck the rear left side of the truck.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene. Due to the severity of his condition, police were unable to obtain additional information from him at the time.
Dash camera footage provided by a witness captured the crash and was reviewed by investigators. Authorities said the video corroborated the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
Witnesses at the scene reported that Reddington remained for approximately four minutes before leaving the area. His vehicle registration was obtained and broadcast to dispatch.
A short time later, Pennsylvania State Police located and stopped Reddington’s vehicle. Police said Reddington admitted to being involved in the crash.
Reddington has been charged with accidents involving death or personal injury, a felony of the third degree; accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle or property, a misdemeanor of the third degree; and duty to give information and render aid.
He was arraigned Thursday evening by on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli and released on $15,000 unsecured bail.
A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Edward Lewis is scheduled for April 7, 2026.
