Fourteen senior student-athletes from high schools across Schuylkill County are being honored as the 2026 Female Scholar Athletes, an annual recognition sponsored by the Schuylkill County Women’s Athletic Association.
Each participating school selects one senior who exemplifies excellence both in athletics and academics, recognizing leadership, dedication, and a commitment to success in and out of competition.
Below is a look at each of this year’s honorees:asasasasasa
Arpita Mishra – Blue Mountain
Arpita Mishra, daughter of Dr. Manish Mishra and Arunima Mishra, competes in varsity swimming and diving and serves as captain of the varsity tennis team. She plans to study biology or public health with a minor in political science and pursue medical school.
Hailey Mroczka – Mahanoy Area
Hailey Mroczka, daughter of Justin and Ashley Mroczka, is a four-sport athlete competing in volleyball, softball, track and field, and basketball. A multi-time district honoree and team captain, she plans to attend Bucknell University to study chemical engineering while continuing her softball career.
Isabella Horvat – Marian Catholic
Isabella Horvat, daughter of Joseph and Val Horvat, participates in volleyball, swimming, cross country, and track and field. A two-year volleyball captain, she plans to continue playing at King’s College while majoring in nursing.
Grace Sterner – Minersville Area
Grace Sterner, daughter of David and Suzanne Sterner, is a four-year starter in both soccer and softball, earning All-State honors in softball. She plans to attend Elizabethtown College to pursue a master’s degree in occupational therapy.
Madeline Daynorowicz – Nativity BVM
Madeline Daynorowicz, daughter of Brandon and Amanda Daynorowicz, competes in soccer, basketball, and track and field, serving as soccer team captain. She plans to enter a six-year doctoral program in physical therapy.
Lyza Holmes – North Schuylkill
Lyza Holmes, daughter of George and Jenny Holmes, is a multi-sport athlete in softball, volleyball, cheerleading, and unified bocce. She plans to study biology at Penn State before pursuing a master’s degree in physician assistant studies.
Ava Alabovitz – North Schuylkill
Ava Alabovitz, daughter of Michael and Meredith Alabovitz, competes in softball, volleyball, basketball, and golf. She plans to attend a four-year university to major in electrical engineering.
Myla Fasnacht – Pine Grove Area
Myla Fasnacht, daughter of Ryan and Joy Fasnacht, competes in varsity soccer and track and field and serves as captain of the soccer team. She plans to study secondary English education and earn ESL certification.
Justine Siminitus – Pottsville Area
Justine Siminitus, daughter of David and Karen Siminitus, is a four-sport athlete in soccer, basketball, softball, and track and field. A multiple-time district champion and first-team selection, she plans to major in biology on a pre-med track.
Audrey Hutchinson – Schuylkill Haven
Audrey Hutchinson, daughter of Megan Hutchinson, competes in soccer, basketball, and track and field. She plans to pursue a business-related master’s degree and hopes to work with a growing company after college.
Lucero Zavala Perez – Shenandoah Valley
Lucero Zavala Perez, daughter of Moises Zavala and Maria Perez, competes in soccer, track, and cross country while also participating in band, student council, and National Honor Society. She plans to pursue a career in the dental field.
Cecilia Ulincy – Tamaqua Area
Cecilia Ulincy, daughter of Stephen and Johanna Ulincy, competes in soccer and track and field and serves as president of multiple honor societies. She plans to study psychology with the goal of becoming a clinical psychologist.
Marjorie Hoffman Long – Tri-Valley
Marjorie Hoffman Long, daughter of Nick Hoffman and Melissa Hoffman Long, competes in soccer, track and field, and varsity wrestling. She plans to continue her athletic career in rugby at Brown University while majoring in political science.
Quin Smeltz – Williams Valley
Quin Smeltz, daughter of Greg and Sally Smeltz, is a four-sport athlete competing in soccer, basketball, softball, and football. She has earned multiple all-division and all-state honors and plans to study biomedical engineering at Messiah University.
Collectively, these student-athletes represent the strong tradition of academic and athletic excellence across Schuylkill County, with many ranking among the top of their graduating classes.
The group will be formally recognized during a banquet scheduled for April 26, 2026, at Mountain Valley Golf Course.
