City officials say parking restrictions will begin ahead of the race to accommodate event setup and ensure public safety.
Beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, no parking will be permitted in the vendor staging areas along Mahantongo Street between Third and Seventh streets, as well as on Fifth Street between Mahantongo and Norwegian streets. These restrictions will remain in place through the completion of post-race activities on Saturday.
Additional parking restrictions will take effect at 6:00 a.m. on race day along the entire race route. During this time, all vehicles must be removed, and the course will be closed to traffic until approximately noon.
The race route will follow several city streets, including Mahantongo Street, 19th Street, Norwegian Street, 22nd Street, 20th Street, Howard Avenue, and 12th Street, before returning to Mahantongo Street for the finish.
Officials emphasized that no vehicular traffic will be allowed on the course while runners are using the route.
Residents who anticipate significant issues related to the closures are encouraged to contact the City at 570-622-1234, extension 1350.
The annual event, hosted in partnership with D.G. Yuengling & Son, draws thousands of participants and spectators from across the region and is expected to impact travel throughout the city during the morning hours.
